Ben's Story

"I put on my shoes... Just like I choose!"

Ben completes the rhyme and smiles. Two years ago however he wasn't so keen to join in. At five, Ben was new to England and unconfident with his new language.

Everyday Magic has brought English into his life in a completely new way.

When Everyday Magic tutors bring their stories to life with puppets, drums and catchy rhymes the children all join in.

Once Ben realised no one could hear him in the chorus, he started to rhyme and act out the stories with everyone else. Today, seven-year old Ben has both the English and the confidence to join in fully.

"Our children would riot if we tried to take away the storytellers," says Ben's Deputy Headteacher, Sarah Kearney. "Teachers and parents see their children's language, communication skills and friendships flourish and their concentration improve."
