Dilly's Story
Dilly is 13, her mother suffers from severe anxiety disorder, her father is absent.
Bullied at school, struggling academically, worried about her weight, Dilly was referred to Family Friends by her school.
A year later, Dilly has met once a week with Kate, a young businesswoman, volunteering for Family Friends. Kate has become Dilly's confidante, introduced her to library reading groups to improve her reading and social skills, helped her develop homework routines, healthier eating habits and other life skills.
Kate says: "Dilly is performing better at school, is no longer bullied, and her confidence and aspirations are growing."
Family Friends is one of three charities funded through the Foundation over a three year period by DMGT plc.
