Local Innovation
and Synergy
John Grumbar, previously Chairman of Egon Zehnder International, is helping to establish a ground-breaking model to prevent young criminals re-offending. Friends, neighbours and local businesses are supporting his initiative; over £70,000 has been raised in just a few months.
Active in South London for four years, the St. Giles Trust's SOS Project has reduced re-offending amongst over 400 clients from over 70% to below 20%.
A specially trained team led by Junior Smart, himself an ex-offender, provides 24/7 support to young people leaving prison, helping them find accommodation, training, work, new friends and activities - and a sense of self worth.
John says: "The Foundation has been invaluable, providing links to local organisations to make the project work here, in our neighbourhoods. We have hit the ground running and look forward to SOS making a huge impact in Kensington and Chelsea."
